Hardware Club
A community space for hacking, building, and learning with Arduinos, Raspberry Pis, drones, robots, and other hardware. Solano County makers welcome.
What this is
A regular meetup for people who want to build things with electronics, microcontrollers, and physical computing. Arduinos, Raspberry Pis, drones, robots, sensors, 3D printers – anything with a circuit board and a purpose.
Beginners and experts in the same room. No membership fee. Bring a project or come to learn.
What it could look like
- Weekly or biweekly meetups at a library, makerspace, or community room in Vacaville
- Show and tell – bring what you’re working on, get feedback, help others debug
- Group builds – collaborative projects like environmental sensors, community mapping drones, or civic tech prototypes
- Workshops – intro to Arduino, soldering basics, drone flight, Raspberry Pi setup
Why Solano County
There’s no regular hardware meetup in Vacaville, Fairfield, or most of the county. The nearest makerspaces are in Sacramento or the Bay Area. There are people here who build things – they just don’t know each other yet.
What we need
- A host location. A room with tables, power outlets, and wifi. Libraries, schools, churches, and businesses have all worked in other cities.
- A few initial members. Three people who show up consistently are more valuable than thirty who come once.
- Equipment sharing. If you have spare Arduinos, breadboards, or components you’d lend to beginners, that lowers the barrier to entry.
